Strong Women

Strong Women is a collaborative quilt, made by the Crafting Change group, hand embroidery and appliqué. Group members embroidered portraits to pay homage to women of color who have inspired us through arts, politics, sports, social justice, and/or community organizing. Throughout our process, we discussed each of the potential portraits to include, leading us to tell stories, build knowledge, and share with each other about each proposed honoree’s accomplishments and the significance they hold for the individual who suggested adding them to our quilt.
